Mission:
The mission of the Auburn Ocular Melanoma Group is to raise awareness about Ocular Melanoma, specifically encouraging people to get an annual eye exam with dilation, and to raise money for research efforts on the unusually high number of OM cases that either went to Auburn University, worked at Auburn University of lived in the city of Auburn.
Vision:
Our vision is to find a cause for OM with the hope of finding a cure for all people with this devastating disease.
Belief:
We believe that this is a special time in the history of OM research. Consistently the Lord has blessed our efforts and has given us what we believe is a “rhema” word from Him. In the book of Esther we see the life of a Queen who is challenged with saving the lives of her people. In Esther 4, the Queen is struggling with being in the position she is in because she must go before the King and make a request for her people. She is told in Chapter 4:14 that “perhaps she is in this position for such a time as this.” Those of us working toward this effort did not ask for this disease, we did not ask to be in a position that is unique in its numbers, and we did not ask to set this effort up. We believe we are in this position for “such a time as this.” And we will do whatever it takes to serve and advocate for those who have Ocular Melanoma and are in this unique grouping of people in Auburn.

What's the goal?Eye Patch Challenge 2018The goal for the 2018 Eye Patch Challenge is to raise $135,000 to fund the research necessary to find the cause and cure for Ocular Melanoma. OM is a rare cancer that affects 5 in 1 million people. Due to the recent increase in OM diagnoses from Auburn University, research is necessary to find the cause. Requests for funding from the state have been made but there has been no commitment from the state at this time, so we're getting creative with the Eye Patch Challenge. Please help spread the word on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. #eyepatchchallenge
